Thermal insulation from the inside
Spanish legislation establishes minimum standards for building insulation! but these are inefficient in most cases. This is why! in the design of sustainable buildings! there is a push to improve the quantity and quality of external insulation.
Even if the exterior insulation is good! work must be insulation from done on the interior to achieve greater thermal comfort inside the building. The good thing is that there are a large number of materials and systems that allow the insulation of the home to be improved from the inside. In these cases! in addition to protection against cold and heat! we also achieve greater acoustic insulation of the home! which is a great advantage.
Wall insulation can be done using insulating panels that are hidden inside the walls. They are made of materials such as polyurethane foam! fiberglass or mineral wool. Another alternative is insulated plasterboard! which is placed directly on the existing walls.
In the case of ceilings ! it is possible to install fiberglass or mineral fax lists wool between the ceiling joists to reduce heat loss. But it is also possible to apply polyurethane foam! or install rigid panels containing this foam.
Blown-in thermal insulation
The disadvantage of the internal thermal insulation systems that we have just seen is that they require a major or minor work. If! in your case! you want to save natural gas on heating! and not have to do a major renovation at home! there is a solution: technical insulation blown or injected into chambers.
A small hole is made in the wall or ceiling and a hose is what are solar tiles and how do they work? passed through it to inject polyurethane or cellulose fibre. It can be applied both inside the house and on the inside of the façade! with the aim of covering all the leak points that may exist.
It is not as effective as other measures! because it cannot be guaranteed that the material has been distributed in a completely uniform manner within the wall. Even so! the change is noticeable. The home not only gains in thermal comfort! but also in tranquillity! because its acoustic insulation improves.
Thermal insulation for floors
In areas with very cold weather! one way to protect homes ao lists from the elements is to place a layer of insulation over the concrete of the ground floor slab . However! materials with good compressive strength must be used! otherwise they will be crushed when the floor is laid and will no longer be effective. In these cases! expanded or extruded polystyrene panels are usually used.
